Parents and Community

Even though Young Life is specifically for kids... parents and other adults in the community are important to Young Life. Adults can support Young Life in a variety of ways — by becoming a volunteer leader or committee member, by attending a Young Life fund-raising event, by hosting Young Life in their home or providing food for gatherings... or by simply telling others in the community about Young Life and its commitment to kids.

You are vital to the success and sustainability of Young Life in your Community. It is financially supported on the local level by community members that support the work of Young Life Leaders. So, put a sticker on your car, offer to host a gathering in your home, drop a check in the mail, tell other parents about the great work that you see, and hug a YL Leader when you see one :)

Keeping Kids Safe

An important part of our committment to kids is how we keep kids safe. Our staff and volunteer leaders know they are responsible for modeling lives of hope and integrity. Young Life's Human Resources department has developed missionwide policies and procedures to ensure that kids are protected when they are with Young Life staff and/or leaders as well as when kids are part of Young Life sponsored activities. If you ever have concern with an adult who is serving within Young Life please do not hesitate to contact our Area Director, Peder Brakke. He's been volunteering and working with Young Life in this community for the last 10 years. His direct line is 425-260-6674 and email brakkepe@gmail.com

Volunteering with Young Life in the Northlake Area

If you are interested in volunteering with Young Life in the Redmond, Lake Washington, Juanita, or Cedarcrest Community you can contact any of our staff directly. There are also few private schools in our area as well as colleges / universities where we hope to build Young Life ministry. In addition, there is an active team for YoungLives (teen moms) and we have hopes of starting Capernaum (special needs ministry) in the Area. If you're ready to go for it simply fill out the Volunteer Leader ApplicationCharacter Reference Form. Or start by contacting any of the folks below to grab coffee (on us) and discuss volunteer opportunities.
